Teaching conditionals with illustrations

Teaching conditionals is worth the investment of effort because students while learning conditionals develop their pragmatic abilities in expressing possibility, politeness and regret as well as academic writing ability.

Zero conditional is used to talk about the results of an action or situation that are always true.

First conditional is used to talk about the results of an action or situation that will probably happen now or in the near future.

Second conditional is used to talk about the results of an action or situation that probably won’t happen.

Third conditional is used to talk about events or situations in the past that could have happened but didn’t.

After explaining in details the form and use of conditionals, I spread out the exercise worksheets to the students.
