Every child in the World have dreams to achieve success even if they are under the age. If they play games everyone want to win, if they are at school everyone want to get high grades, if they make any tasks in class everyone want to be perfect and so forth. That happened to me, too. As a child I wanted to achieve my own aims in school. It was what my parents had taught me for. If you are a reader you can be a leader.
My first learning experience has not been very difficult for me. I used to learn everything that my older sister learnt before I went to school, so I did not face much difficulties in reading and writing. I cannot remember very well what kinds of methods my teachers have used at the very beginning. It was long time ago and there were no computers, no internet so learning was more boring comparing to the conditions today. I can better remember later on when I started learning English. That was at the fifth grade. My first English teacher was from Belgium married in my village. She was very friendly to the children, she taught us very well, she used a lot of conversations, she used to make a lot of games and the thing I most loved was homework. Except we had to do homework we had to design them as good as we can. Since then I began to love English and I never stop loving it.
Growing up and step by step, year by year it was much more difficult . However I finished primary school successfully and I continued secondary school which I suppose was one of my worst experiences in my life. Because of the Serbian occupation we were not allowed to learn at school, so I never touched the school desks during my four years
of secondary school. But we have never stopped learning, we used to learn in private houses and everyone can imagine the effect of that kind of learning. I would like to have a free topic to write about my life, to describe ‘how my best age was my worst experience’, ‘how my best friend (my roommate) was killed in the war’, and a lot of things that happened in my country during my best age.
As I mentioned above, my English learning was getting more difficult. We were asked to write every day notes, like a diary, reading different lessons and doing comprehension check, learning poems by heart, I can remember one “ The garden of love “, I have not forgotten the title, but I do not know what did it say. Then at university we used to do a lot of reading and writing activities. I have read a lot of novels, plays, comedies and I have written a lot of essays which I enjoyed very much. I spent hours and hours reading novels or plays and then making a content of them in essays. As a student I have been writing my diary, too. So my hand is well exercised by writing while reading cools my mind. I would like to mention my favorite reading activities were Shakespeare’s plays ( all of them ), and my favorite novels were those of modern literature. While my least favorite activity was the theory of translation. I found it a little bit difficult especially Albanian – English translation.
Another difficult thing during my learning experience was learning of irregular verbs. I could not learn them, I mixed them. Instead of begin – began – begun, I used to say begin – begun – began. There was Past Participle the last one I used Past Simple. I always struggled with these two forms and I had no idea how to learn them. Finally I found a way. I wrote all irregular verbs on a big paper and I put it on the wall of my bedroom in front of my bed so I used to read them every morning and every night. It was a good way to learn something by heart, it was a very good method.
Looking back at my learning experiences and comparing to my teaching today is a big difference. Today a new technology and new methods are in use. Computers, internet, working in groups and so forth, so I do not always use my teacher methods. I can say that there is a big difference between my first learning and teaching experiences. If I could turn back the time I would do it to enjoy the first learning experience one more time, while I will never forget the excitement of my first day teaching experience.
